History will record that one of Africa’s most audacious revolutionary acts in 2025 was the travel ban imposed on U.S. citizens by Burkina Faso and Mali, in direct response to similar measures adopted under the Trump administration.
Beyond being an act of retaliation, this decision stands as a powerful revolutionary gesture—one that educates, inspires, and restores dignity. It sends a clear message to future generations: sovereignty is not begged for; it is exercised.
If our generation fails to fully rebuild Africa because of fear and hesitation, then our duty is at least to transmit courage, clarity, and determination to those who come after us. A people that does not inspire its youth to resist injustice condemns itself to permanent submission.
Meanwhile, more than fifty African states watch in silence—paralyzed by fear, calculating risks, and waiting to see what will happen to Mali and Burkina Faso. What will happen is simple: a step closer to freedom.
2026 must be the year fear is defeated, cowardice buried, and courage reclaimed.
Africa belongs to Africans.
